O maior Primeiro de Maio dos últimos anos, reflectindo o aumento da luta dos trabalhadores nos sectores público e privado.
Duas Centrais Sindicais. A CGTP-IN que vem do tempo da dura luta contra o fascismo, representa de longe a maioria dos sindicatos e sempre manteve uma posição firme contra a exploração capitalista.
A UGT, nascida da contra-revolução de 1975-76 para ajudar os regressados capitalistas a explorar de novo os trabalhadores. Fundada pelo PS, PSD, e outros partidos de direita. Representa a minoria dos trabalhadores aristocratas de colarinhos brancos (engenheiros, contabilistas, gestores, etc.).
Primeiro de Maio em Portugal. Todos viram na rua a CGTP por todo o país. Quase não se viu a UGT.
A CGTP anunciou e irá estar empenhada em novas lutas dos trabalhadores. Entre elas, a luta por um salário mínimo de 650 euros.
É que a CGTP é de facto uma central dos trabalhadores. Logo, está preocupada com os direitos dos trabalhadores.
O único anúncio relevante da UGT é de que irá defender 0% de IRC para as empresas do interior.
É que a UGT é de facto uma central de amarelos. Logo, está preocupada com os patrões. Patrões que tanto necessitam da «compreensão» dos aristocratas de colarinhos brancos.

The biggest May Day in recent years, reflecting the increasing struggle of workers both in the public and private sectors.
Two Confederations of Trade Unions. The CGTP-IN, which goes back to the time of the hard struggle against fascism, represents by far the majority of trade unions and has always maintained a firm position against capitalist exploitation.
The UGT, a sprout of the 1975-76 counter-revolution, to help capitalist returnees to exploit workers again. Founded by PS (social-democrats, liberals), PSD (liberals), and other right-wing parties. It represents the minority of the white-collar aristocratic workers (engineers, accountants, managers, etc.).
May Day in Portugal. Everyone saw the CGTP on the streets all over the country. The UGT was hardly seen.
The CGTP announced and will be engaged in new workers' struggles. Among them, the fight for a minimum wage of 650 euros (presently at 550, though some enterprises pay 600 due to the workers' struggles).
The CGTP is de facto a workers' confederation. Therefore, it is concerned with workers' rights.
The UGT's only relevant announcement is that it will defend a 0% IRC ("collective tax" = tax on enterprises) for inland businesses.
The UGT is de facto a yellow confederation. Therefore, it is worried with the bosses. Bosses who so badly need the "understanding" of white-collar aristocrats.
