Para aqueles perturbados pela fórmula do título há que esclarecer que a fórmula não é nossa. É a fórmula do resultado a que nos conduziu o capitalismo. Séculos de capitalismo. Sim, no momento actual, os 26 mais ricos têm tanta riqueza quanto a metade mais pobre do planeta: 3.800 milhões -- 3.800.000.000 -- de seres humanos. Dados recentes da Oxfam. Uma beleza, não é? Que reflexões suscitam esta beleza? A nós suscitaram-nos as seguintes: -- Há quem diga que o que conduziu a «isto» foi o neoliberalismo. Certo, mas redutor. O que conduziu a «isto» foi o capitalismo. Dizer apenas que foi o neoliberalismo pode suscitar a ideia de que é (ou seria) possível capitalismo sem neoliberalismo. Isso é falso. É falso, devido a duas leis imanentes do capitalismo: a da concentração do capital e a da maximização do lucro. O neolíberalismo foi e é a consequência lógica do desenvolvimento do capitalismo. Não é possível haver capitalismo sem aumento de concentração de capital e a busca da maximização do lucro. -- Não é possível aumentar a concentração de capital e buscar a maximização do lucro sem aumentar a desigualdade social. Os «26» e os «3.800.000.000» são o verso e reverso interligados do resultado social das mesmas leis. É demagógico e sem sentido defender as leis silenciando os seus resultados, como se eles não existissem. Idem, apregoar que pode haver o verso sem haver o reverso (como os demagogos que brincam à caridadesinha). -- A desigualdade social é um dos termómetros do capitalismo. O presente nível termométrico “26 = 3.800.000.000” indica febre elevadíssima. -- De facto, a febre além de elevadíssima é galopante. Em 2018 a fortuna dos multimilionários cresceu 12%, a um ritmo de 2.200 milhões de euros por dia – 11,3 vezes o PIB de Portugal em 2017! --, enquanto a riqueza da metade mais pobre da Terra diminuiu 11%! Dados da Oxfam. -- O crescimento da desigualdade social, se nada se lhe opuser, continuará a acelerar-se. A desigualdade social tem vindo sempre a crescer, uma vez passado o período pós 2.ª GM até meados dos 70 – período em que os chefões capitalistas, para além de novas oportunidades de lucro (havia imenso a construir depois das destruições da guerra e um enorme exército de desempregados) tinham de combater a atracção das massas pelo socialismo. -- Para além da desigualdade social, também têm aumentado, e a ritmo crescente: a perda de liberdades, a opressão das massas trabalhadoras, a alienação das massas conduzida pelos media e políticos dominantes, o favorecimento de soluções pró-fascistas, as guerras e ameaças de guerra, a degradação do meio ambiente. Também estes males resultam inexoravelmente das leis imanentes do capitalismo, em particular a lei da concentração do capital financeiro que é o leit motiv das agressões imperialistas. Nenhum sistema social aniquilou tantos seres humanos como o capitalismo. Para além das dezenas de milhões das duas guerras mundiais (pelo menos 85 milhões de mortos segundo a wikipedia) há que acrescentar as vítimas das muitas outras guerras, as vítimas da fome e da degradação do ambiente, da pobreza (cuja causa principal é o desemprego), dos assassinatos pelas «forças da ordem», das prisões e campos de concentração, etc. -- Só há uma oposição eficaz: a que provém da luta unida das massas trabalhadoras.  -- Só há uma saída do capitalismo: o socialismo. -- Sem oposição e luta eficazes que conduzam ao socialismo a humanidade caminha para a catástrofe. -- Cuba não entrou nos dados da Oxfam.

What thoughts this beauty gives rise to? As regards us, they gave rise to the following thoughts: -- There are those who say that it was neoliberalism which led to "this". Sure, but reductive. What led to “this” was capitalism. To only say that it was neoliberalism may raise the idea that capitalism is (or would be) possible without neoliberalism. This is false. It is false because of two immanent laws of capitalism: those of concentration of capital and of profit maximization. Neoliberalism was and is the logical consequence of the development of capitalism. It is not possible to have capitalism without increasing capital concentration and pursuing profit maximization. -- It is not possible to increase the concentration of capital and seek to maximize profit without increasing social inequality. The '26' and the '3,800,000,000' are the intertwined verse and reverse of the social outcome of the same laws. It is demagogic and senseless to defend the laws silencing their results, as if they didn’t exist. Equally, proclaiming that one can have the verse without the reverse (as the charity-monger demagogues). -- Social inequality is one of the thermometers of capitalism. Today’s thermometric level "26 = 3.800.000.000" indicates a very high fever. --- The fever besides being very high is in fact rampant. In 2018, billionaires' fortunes grew by 12%, at a pace of € 2.2 billion a day -- 11.3 times Portugal's GDP in 2017! -- while the wealth of the poorest half of the world declined by 11%! Oxfam data. -- The growth of social inequality, if nothing stands in the way, will continue to accelerate. Social inequality has been growing ever since the post-WWII period until the mid-1970s – a period when the capitalist big bosses, in addition to new opportunities for profit (there was a lot to build after the war destructions and a huge army of unemployed), were compelled to fight against the attraction of the masses for socialism. -- In addition to social inequality, the following have also increased at a growing pace: the loss of freedoms, the oppression of the working masses, the alienation of the masses led by the mainstream politicians and media, the favoring of pro-fascists solutions, the number of wars and threats of war, the degradation of the environment. These evils, too, stem inexorably from the immanent laws of capitalism, in particular the law of the concentration of financial capital which is the leit motiv of imperialist aggressions. No other social system has annihilated so many human beings as capitalism. In addition to the tens of millions of the two world wars (at least 85 million people according to wikipedia), one must add the victims of many other wars, the victims of hunger and the degradation of the environment, victims of poverty (unemployment being the main cause), of the murders by the "forces of the order", of the prisons and concentration camps, etc. -- There is only one effective opposition: that of the united struggle of the working masses.  -- There is only one way out of capitalism: socialism. -- Without effective opposition and fight leading to socialism, humanity is heading for catastrophe. -- Cuba has not entered the Oxfam data.
